Title Contenders Speed, Stenhouse, Jr Lead in Chicagoland Open Testing

Career First - Michael Phelps Hits the Dirt

Sunday, August 17th, was the first time that Michael Phelps, the driver of the #45 Bowen Family Homes Dodge has raced on a dirt track. The Illinois State Fair, in Springfield, hosted the Allen Crowe 100. The 15th Series event in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX season.


Frustrating Weekend for Lofton

Springfield, Ill. (August 17, 2008) - Eddie Sharp Racing's Justin Lofton traveled from Connecticut to Illinois this weekend, pulling double duty, racing in both the NASCAR Camping World Series East and the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Neither race satisfied the competitive driver as rotten luck plagued the weekend's events.


KBIII Charges from 33rd to 13th in Impressive Dirt Debut

Springfield, Ill. (August 17, 2008) - Ken Butler, III rebounded back from what was looking to be a disastrous weekend. The Eddie Sharp Racing driver suffered major left rear damage during his qualifying lap. The No. 22 Aaron's Lucky Dog team scrambled to repair the damage before the green flag for the Allen Crowe Memorial 100 dropped. KBIII charged like a champ, gaining a fantastic 20 positions to finish in the 13th position.


Speed Steers to 8th Place Finish on Clay in Springfield

Springfield, Ill. (August 17, 2008) - Eddie Sharp Racing's Scott Speed has had a year of many "firsts" and this weekend the former F-1 driver made his first career start on a dirt track. Heading to the Illinois State Fairgrounds with three wins in the last four races, the No. 2 Red Bull team prepared for a hot and dirty day in Springfield. Speed endured a frustrating race on the unfamiliar surface and finished in a very respectable eighth-place.


Dirt-Track Disaster for Bean and Team GLOCK

Mooresville, NC (8.18.08) - Dexter and Team GLOCK had another disappointing weekend at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield at the Allen Crowe Memorial 100 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. He finished the race in the 32nd position.


Top-Five Run Stalled For Patrick Sheltra At Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (August 18, 2008) - - Patrick Sheltra looked well on his way to his second top-five finish of the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, but a flat tire inside 10 laps remaining forced a late-race pit stop with Sheltra rebounding with a 12th place finish in Sunday's Allen Crowe 100.


Allgaier Nabs Sixth in Springfield

Springfield, IL,(August 17, 2008)-Justin Allgaier went to his home track, the Springfield Mile, for the running of the Allen Crowe 100 ARCA RE/MAX Series race Sunday, August 17 in hopes of repeating his 2006 victory at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Although handling hampered the thoughts of a win, he pulled off a sixth place finish after pitting three times for adjustments on the No. 16 Hoosier Midwest-AG Tech-Schlossers Chevrolet.


Kimmel Wins! ARCA RE/MAX Series Up-and-Comers Rely on Champ's Experience, Advice

Some, such as 2006 Allen Crowe 100 race winner Justin Allgaier and 2007 Springfield USAC Silver Crown winner Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., were dirt track experts in their own right. Others, such as current ARCA RE/MAX Series point leader and former Formula One driver Scott Speed, had never seen a dirt track before, let alone driven on one. Regardless of their backgrounds, ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers are smart to spend their pre-race strategizing with Kimmel.


King Kimmel Rules on Springfield Mile Dirt
kimmelvlspringfield08.jpgSPRINGFIELD IL (8-17-08) - Nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel cleaned up Sunday afternoon at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield where the Clarksville, Indiana driver ended a year-long winless streak with a victory in the 46th Allen Crowe 100.

New Track Record at Springfield: Kimmel Earns SIM Factory Pole Award

kimmelpolespringfield08.jpgSPRINGFIELD IL (8-17-08)--Frank Kimmel shattered the ARCA RE/MAX Series track record at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Sunday, besting a track record set by Damon Lusk in 2006 by circling the 1-mile clay oval in 32.878 seconds for a speed of 109.496 mph. He starts on the pole for this afternoon's Allen Crowe 100 alongside Soddy Daisy, Tennessee's Ron Cox.


AJ Fike Fastest in Practice at Springfield

fikecandidspringfield08.jpgSPRINGFIELD IL (8-17-08) - He doesn't show up but once or twice a year, but when he does, he always gets the attention of the ARCA RE/MAX Series dirt-track troops. AJ Fike, in his own Liberty Village-RFMS Racing Ford, in the final moments of practice, put up the fastest lap of the day here Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds mile-dirt in Springfield. Fike circled the historic horse track in 33.435 seconds, for an average speed of 107.672 mph. The one-lap track record (33.402/107.778 mph) at Springfield was set by Damon Lusk in 2006. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying is next. The 46th Allen Crowe 100 is set to roll off at 1:00 pm Central/local time. Win-Tron Racing Selects Bradley Riethmeyer for ARCA RE/MAX Series Debut At Illinois State Fairground

Lofton Pulls Double Duty

( August 14, 3008) - Eddie Sharp Racing's Justin Lofton is going to rack up the frequent flyer miles this weekend as he competes in both the NASCAR Camping World Series East and the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Lofton will travel to Lakeville, Connecticut where he will pilot the No. 2 Greenville-Toyota/Lofton Cattle Toyota in Saturday's Mohegan Sun NASCAR 200 at Lime Rock Park. Points Contender Matt Carter Makes Dirt Track Debut at Illinois State Fairgrounds

Statesville, NC (08-13-08) SunTrust Rookie of the Year contender, Matt Carter, will make a first time dirt track career debut this Sunday to compete in the ARCA RE/MAX series' Allen Crowe 100 at Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois. The 100 lap/100 mile event will serve as a nice mid-season break away from the pressures that come with racing at some of the speedways visited by the ARCA RE/MAX series this season like Daytona, Talladega, Michigan and Kansas to name a few. However for Matt Carter, pilot of the No. 46 Fort Dodge Animal Health/Stine Seed Ford Fusion, pressures in racing are evident no matter where the rubber meets the road.
